WHO, in September 2021, released Assessing the development of palliative care worldwide: A set of actionable indicators. This global consensus document describes an updated conceptual model and essential components required to optimize palliative care - using an integrated patient-centered approach.
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES
In June 2021, HHS sponsored the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM), to host a one-day workshop to explore the ability of primary care clinicians to implement palliative care in patients with advanced chronic conditions.
NATIONAL ACADEMIES OF SCIENCE, ENGINEERING AND MEDICINE
In January 2022 NASEM released: Integrating serious illness into primary care delivery: Proceeding of a workshop. This report suggests palliative care be implemented at the time of a chronic condition diagnosis and clinically managed in the primary care setting.
